WHO WE ARE
Kiva was established in 1996, specializing in highly designed high-end custom residential projects. Arizona, Nevada, California, Utah, New Mexico, and Texas are our primary operating areas, though we do have the flexibility to offer our services in other locations.
Principals G.J. Hassen, Director of Design, and Gerald Shingleton, Chief Staff Architect, have together created and completed dozens of successful projects for our discerning clientele. Personal service is a hallmark of the Kiva design process. We are committed to enabling our clients to enjoy a seamless and enjoyable experience. Kiva specializes in handling complex projects for busy people by accommodating their schedules. Every one of our designs is an original creation for our client. There will be no repetition of your personal residence in the future for other clients.
Our designs have been featured in magazines, periodicals, television features, and theme design books. We have authored residential design books and have served on Architectural Review Committees of many high-end residential developments and understand what ARC committees require.
OUR DESIGN PHILOSOPHY
“Good Design is one hundred things that you feel, but do not see.”
The Kiva design philosophy of Organic Architecture exhibits our reverence for nature. Intensive pre-design study of view corridors, site topography, sun and wind patterns, and specific design challenges will produce the perfect orientation for inside and outside living areas. Modern building technology using natural materials of native stone, copper, and plaster with liberal use of glass produce a living environment that celebrates the human aesthetic. We approach our work with a sculptor’s sense of form and an artist’s sense of color. It is our mission to create a home for you that will blend your individual personality and needs with artfulness of design.
Although we create many different design themes through our work, the thread of distinctive Kiva style characterizes all of our projects.
Personal service and respect for your time is a hallmark of the Kiva design process. We are committed to making your design and building process seamless. Our specialty is handling complex projects for busy clients.

Conceptual layouts and color renderings in context with the site and topography aid in rapid approval for constructions. After construction is started we consult with the General Contractor through completion of the projects and move- in for our clients.
